  • Students will demonstrate Level 1 proficiency by passing the department standardized comprehensive final examination.
  • Students will demonstrate language skills necessary to become productive and successful members of the community by completing the English Literacy and Civics (EL Civics) assessment for Level 1.
ESL - Level 2 ESL LVL2
  • Students will demonstrate language skills necessary to become productive and successful members of the community by completing the English Literacy and Civics (EL Civics) assessment for Level 2.
  • Students will demonstrate Level 2 proficiency by passing the department standardized comprehensive final examination.
ESL - Level 3 ESL LVL3
  • Students will be able to complete a job application and demonstrate the ability to access employment by engaging in a job interview.
  • Students will demonstrate Level 3 proficiency by passing the department standardized comprehensive final examination.

ESL - Speaking C ESL SPKC
  • Speaking C students will take notes from authentic materials, such as lectures, news clips, and interviews.
  • Speaking C students will deliver an oral report with visual aids on a researched topic using only outlines and note cards.
ESL - Writing C ESL WRTC
  • Writing C students will write a conclusion paragraph including the restatement of the thesis.
  • Advanced Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) students will individually write a two-page report on the product or service they developed for their team presentation.
  • Writing C students will write a multi-paragraph composition using various rhetorical modes, such as narrative, comparison and contrast, cause and effect, and process analysis.
ESL Pre-Level 1 ESL PLVL1
  • Students will demonstrate Pre-Level 1 proficiency by passing the department standardized comprehensive final examination.
  • Students will submit a comprehensive portfolio that includes multiple measures and evidence of low-beginning level skill achievement in English language proficiency.
  • Students will demonstrate language skills necessary to become productive and successful members of the community by completing the English Literacy and Civics (EL Civics) assessment for literacy level.
