2024 Institutional Self-Evaluation

The College has conducted a self-evaluation, written an Institutional Self-Evaluation (ISER) Report, and will be welcoming an Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Peer Review Team to our campus for a focused site visit scheduled for February 28 and 29. This visit presents a valuable opportunity to showcase Mt. SAC's strengths and accomplishments while engaging in constructive dialogue for continuous improvement.

During their time with us, the Peer Review Team will focus on the five core inquiries outlined in the Mt. SAC Inquiry Report (Oct 18, 2023). This accreditation visit provides another opportunity to “share our story,” highlighting the incredible efforts and initiatives contributing to our commitment to ongoing reflection, academic excellence, and student success. Check out the Accreditation Crash Course for additional information regarding the upcoming focused site visit.

Accreditation Crash Course

All College Community members are encouraged to participate in two events during the visit event.

  • Open Forum (Face-to-face and virtual):  Wednesday, February 28, 4:30-5:30 pm, Building 13-1700 or Zoom Meeting ID: 827 7496 6164
  • Exit Report (Face-to-face and live stream): Thursday, February 29, 12:00 - 12:30 pm, Summit Event Center (Student Center - 3rd Floor) or via YouTube Live Stream (not recorded)

ACCJC Comprehensive Peer Review

The accreditation process promotes institutional excellence by applying standards and advancing meaningful and effective student learning and achievement. Our accrediting Commission, ACCJC, utilizes a peer-review driven process. This process is currently a seven-year cycle in which a team of peers evaluates the Mt. SAC 2024 ISER, including our responses and evidence supporting the compliance requirements, eligibility requirements, and accreditation standards.

2024 Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER)

We want to thank the ACCJC Review Team for their thoughtful and comprehensive technical review of the Mt. SAC ISER on October 18, 2023. Team members appreciated the “Weaving our Story” theme and found the ISER to be a comprehensive, well written, document developed through broad participation by the entire College community including faculty, staff, students, and administration. At the conclusion of the technical review, the ACCJC Review Team identified 5 Core Inquiries that relate to potential areas of clarification, improvement, or commendation:

  • Core Inquiry 1: Human Resources Evaluation Processes
  • Core Inquiry 2: Evaluation of Governance Processes
  • Core Inquiry 3: Timely and Regular Review of Board Policies and Procedures
  • Core Inquiry 4: Ensuring Regular and Substantive Interaction in Distance Education Courses
  • Core Inquiry 5: The Success of GRASP and LEAD programs

Core inquiries are a means for communicating the areas of emphasis for the upcoming Focused Site Visit scheduled for February 28-29.  Mt. SAC has until the end of this semester to respond to the team’s questions and gather more evidence about how we are meeting ACCJC standards and policies. The Accreditation Steering Committee, with support from the Core Team, has formed five Core Inquiry Teams with broad representation of campus experts to provide the ACCJC Peer Team with additional evidence and updates on college progress in each of the focus areas. The Core Team looks forward to sharing updates on these collaborative efforts.
