Mt. SAC Tutoring Centers

Mt. SAC has numerous academic resources that support Mt. SAC students in various subjects - evening and weekend tutoring also available. To learn more about the different tutoring services on campus, please select the subject area that you are interested in getting assistance in.

Mt. SAC tutoring services are available in-person and online. Please contact the tutoring centers/programs listed here for their current offerings and hours of operation. For subject-specific schedules, please contact the tutoring center/program.

      • Accessible Technology Center

        Updated print system, new HP computers with 22” wide-screen monitors. For class-related work: DVDs, scanners, Internet access, specialized DSPS equipment, computer-assisted instruction, MS Office, Maple and Mini-Tab (via VMware), Adobe Suite, and other academic software.

Software available: Current versions of Windows and Office, Mac OS X High Sierra, iWork, Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and 2017, and all software required for Business Division courses. Color printing available with color printer card. *Purchase a BLUE Business Division printer card at the Cashier’s Office, $2.25 for B/W or $7.00 for color.

      • Math Activities Resource Centers (MARCS)

        The MARCS offers free math tutoring to Mt. SAC students currently enrolled in a math class. Software available include: Graphmatica, Geometer’s Sketchpad, My MathLab, Alex, Wolfram|Alpha: Computational Knowledge Engine (Online Software), Maple 2018, Minitab 18, MS Office 2016, Statcato, wxMaxima, Python, Java IDE Eclipse Classic, MS Visual Studio 2017, jGrasp, Netbeans, Codeblocks, Raptor. Other available materials: Textbooks, Solution Manuals, Calculators, Videos, Worksheets, and Geometry Supplies.

         

      • Speech & Sign Success Center

        The SSSC offers digital video recording rooms for self-guided practice and skill development. Sign students have access to the video relay system with special headsets for interpreters in training and finger spelling software. For Speech students, the center offers video libraries of speech examples and tools to create and manage visual aids.

      • STEM Center 

        STEM Center
        Building 61 - Room 3320

        Mt. SAC STEM Center, located on the third floor of the campus’ Math and Science Building, provides tutoring, peer-to-peer coaching, counseling, and general support services. Students who visit the center will find a study area stocked with microscopes, laptop computers, and even skeletons for anatomy students. The center is available to any math, science, or engineering student. But, it is also used by the STEM Teacher Preparation Program, Robotics Team members, and students in two of the campus engineering clubs. Approximately 200 students use the center each day.

      • Tech Ed Resource Center

        T/Th: 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
        F: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

        The TERC is a tutoring facility and a place for independent or group study. CTE students can receive help in basic English and math, study skills, and research methods - no appointment necessary. There are laptops and textbooks avaialbe to check out. Onsite counselors require no appointments and have hours twice a week during fall and spring semesters. 

      • Writing Center

        Open to all current Mt. SAC students, the Writing Center provides tutoring services in writing, writing workshops, individualized grammar and writing exercises (DLAs), PC computer lab with writing and reading assistance software, and computerized classrooms for instruction. Computer lab available only for students being tutored or using a Writing Center serivce.

         Open to current credit student athletes and credit students; individual and small group tutoring in all subject areas, access to a computer lab with internet access, headphone checkout, study hall areas, MS Office, and basic skills software available.
