Choosing an Area of Study in Music

Whether you see yourself on the concert stage, in a recording studio, or at the helm of a high school music program, we have a pathway designed to launch your career. As a music student at Mt. SAC, you will choose one of three areas of study:

    Commercial Music

The industry side of creation. Commercial songwriting, writing for games and film, and navigating the business of music.
    • Goals: A Bachelor's degree in Commercial Music or Music Industry, or a direct path into the commercial music world.

    Audio Arts

The technology and engineering of sound. Studio recording, audio post-production, live sound reinforcement, and sound design.
