Amelia Hammond
Amelia Hammond is currently a collaborative pianist and coach at Mt. San Antonio College. Previously,
she was a collaborative pianist and coach at Scripps College and Riverside City College
in Southern California. She is an avid recitalist and lover of American vocal art
song. She was the recipient of the Songfest American Song Prize XXI where she performed
a recital curated and coached by Libby Larsen, John Musto, and Martha Guth. Additional
performances as a recitalist include: the African American Art Song Alliance, University
of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music Chamber Opera, the Ventura Opera
Project, the Pacific Opera Project, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing
(NATS) - Los Angeles.
Hammond has held faculty positions as a collaborative pianist and coach at Opera Viva in
Verona, Italy, and American Institute of Music (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. Passionate
about musical theater, she has served as music director at AMDA - Los Angeles, USC
Thornton School of Music Chamber Opera, and countless shows in Des Moines, Iowa, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, PIPPIN, a Chorus Line, and MAMMA MIA!.
Having spent time as a church music director, choir director, and organist around
the greater Los Angeles area, Hammond continues to seek opportunities to collaborate across genres and styles. Summer 2026,
she looks forward to presenting research through a recital, “And” Is Rather Beautiful: An Exploration of Cross Training through Modern American
Composers, at the NATS 59th National Conference.
Hammond holds a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Piano Performance from Drake University and a Master
of Music (MM) in Keyboard Collaborative Arts from the University of Southern California
under the tutelage of Dr. Alan Smith.
