Mt SAC Music

The Mt. SAC Music Department offers outstanding opportunities for students to study, perform, create, and grow in a welcoming and supportive musical community. Whether your goal is to transfer as a music major, prepare for a career in music, or continue making music while pursuing another field of study, Mt. SAC provides a rich combination of academic coursework, performance experiences, and individualized instruction.

Students can explore a diverse curriculum that includes music theory, musicianship, history, performance, conducting, composition, jazz studies, commercial music, guitar, piano, and more. Guided by accomplished faculty and surrounded by a vibrant community of fellow musicians, students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed both in music and beyond.

Degrees and Certificates

Mt. SAC Music offers a comprehensive range of degrees and certificates designed to prepare students for transfer, professional careers, and lifelong engagement in music. Students may pursue the Associate in Arts for Transfer in Music, as well as Level I and II certificates in areas including performance, music education, composition, jazz studies, and commercial music. Our programs combine rigorous academic study with extensive performance opportunities, helping students build the skills and experience needed for success at four-year institutions and beyond.
