The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band are among the many instrumental music offerings available at Mt. San Antonio College. Both ensembles specialize in performing high quality repertoire for winds and percussion. Members of the ensemble give formal performances each semester, travel on concert tours, and host festivals throughout the year. Over the last decade the program has nearly tripled in size and has evolved into a dynamic and expressive organization, known for its musical excellence. 

For over 60 years, the Mt. San Antonio College Bands have inspired audiences

with exemplary performances of wind literature. That tradition of musical excellence continues today as the "Mt. SAC" Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble strive of attain the deepest levels of musical performance and collaborative artistry. From concerts at our state-of-the-art campus in Walnut, California to performances in Southern California and across the country, we aim to present only the highest levels of musicality and artistic intent.

In 2005, the Wind Ensemble took part in the New York Wind Band Festival, which included a performance at Carnegie Hall. In 2006, the Wind Ensemble performed at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Western/Northwestern conference in Reno, Nevada. 2007 featured a performance in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a part of the Washington D.C. Wind Band Festival. More recently, the ensemble was featured at the Walt Disney Concert Hall during the Los Angeles International Band and Orchestra Festival in June, 2008.

To help further the cause of new music, the Mt. SAC Instrumental Music Program has taken part in the commissioning of new works including Blue by Ran Galor, Journey’s End by Steven Mahpar, Phantasticke Spirites by Donald Grantham, Voice of the City by Richard Danielpour, Pandemonium by Roger Cichy, Streets of Paris by Bill Reichenbach, and Vintage Renaissance and Beyond and Concerto for Timpani and Wind Ensemble by William Kraft.
