Join us for a conversation about designing for care to reduce barriers to success
for diverse community college students.
In his keynote address and fireside chat, Dr. Jesse Stommel will facilitate a conversation
about designing for care to reduce barriers to success for diverse populations of
community college students, including building community, fostering a sense belonging,
and designing inclusive pedagogies. Dr. Stommel's work urges educators to "center
care and justice in our practices -- to center humans." Jesse Stommel is co-founder of Digital Pedagogy Lab and Hybrid Pedagogy. He is co-author
of An Urgency of Teachers: The Work of Critical Digital Pedagogy and co-editor of Critical Digital Pedagogy: A Collection. Dr. Stommel teaches pedagogy and new media courses. He is best known for his research
on higher education pedagogy, critical digital pedagogy, and assessment. Dr. Stommel
will be a guest at the May 28 Inspired Teaching: Designing for Care Book Discussion
Group.
