Emergency Book Loans

Mt. SAC offers short term loans at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters to aid in the purchase of books. These loans are designed for students who have not yet received their financial aid, and need help purchasing their textbooks. These loans are based on unit-load and range from $100-$200 loans and are interest-free if repaid within the approved time period (usually due within 30-60 days).  Loans are given in the form of a voucher to the campus bookstore.

Mt. SAC has a limited amount of funding for these loans, so it is recommended that you visit the Financial Aid Office within the first two days of each semester if you are interested in receiving one of these loans. The Financial Aid Office is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Service Building (9B).

To be considered for an Emergency Book Loan, a student must meet the following minimum  requirements:

  • Have a 2.0 GPA or be a first time student
  • Be enrolled in 6 units or more
  • Have no more than 80 units completed
  • Have not been disbursed financial aid (BOG Waiver ok)
  • Have no "HOLDS" on Mt. SAC student record
  • Have all fees paid at the time of application
  • Have no other short term loans outstanding

Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS)
