I was born in Mexico and raised in California since 1979. I graduated from high school in 1988. Soon after graduating, I had 3 children and became a single parent in 1992. I joined the military in 2003 and I proudly served my country for 9 years. I was deployed to Iraq with the U.S. Navy Customs, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Endurance Freedom. After returning from Iraq I was medically retired.

As a YN2, I was drilling out of Seal Beach "Naval Weapon Operation" (EOT1). My job was to work with legal administration, promotions, orders, pay section, separation, transfers, and deployments.

My awards included Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal(2), National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Medal, Armed Forces Medal, Sharpshooter Rifleman Ribbon, Marksman Pistol Ribbon.

I currently maintain a position with the Mt. SAC Department of Financial Aid as a Clerical Specialist. I have worked at Mt. SAC for 20 years and I'm so blessed and thankful for all the support and experience that I have gained and learned through my journey here at Mt. SAC. I have worked hard and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona University. I intend to proceed in my career and gain a Master’s degree in Social Work.
