• 2026-27 Sabbatical Leave Informational Packet

  Sabbatical applications for Sabbaticals to be taken in the 2026/27 academic year are due by October 3, 2025. 

  The Sabbatical Application process has been automated and is online.  The online application (Smartsheet) can be found in the button below.   Once you submit the form, it will automatically route to your department chair, dean, vice president, and Human Resources for processing.  You no longer need to worry about obtaining “wet” signatures.  

  Application for Sabbatical Leave

  It is recommended that you submit your application in time to allow both the department chair and dean to certify the leave will not be detrimental to the department, with sufficient time for the application to be received by the due date of October 3, 2025. 

  As a friendly reminder, the following will need to be uploaded to the Smartsheet:

  • A three to four sentence abstract of your plan for preparation of the Board of Trustees Agenda written in the third person.
  • A comprehensive, written statement of the proposed sabbatical activity(ies) including:
  • Description of the nature of the activity(ies)
  • Timeline of the activity(ies)
  • Proposed research design and method(s) of investigation, if applicable.
  • A statement of the anticipated value and benefit of the proposed sabbatical activity(ies) to the applicant, his/her department or service area, and the college.
  • Letters of recommendation (encouraged).
  • Academic reference list/works cited/selected bibliography.

Pursuant to the Faculty Contract Article A.6.a.3 full-time faculty may earn PGI by completing six semester units of college work or equivalent workshops/seminars,  as approved by the Salary and Leaves Committee. A list of pre-approved district sponsored workshops is below. Use the Faculty Request for Professional Growth Increment Credit Form to verify attendance at POD workshops. Use the Petition for Professional Growth Increment Form for any course or workshops not found on the pre-approved list.

Pursuant to the Faculty Contract Article A.6.b.2 adjunct faculty may be paid for up to 6 hours per fiscal year for completion of on-campus professional development workshops. Update October, 2024: "The non-teaching hourly rate shall be paid to adjunct professors completing approved on-campus professional growth workshops up to a limit of six (6) hours per fiscal year. An additional three (3) hours per fiscal year shall be made available through funds allocated annually in the amount of $35,000.  An adjunct professor shall not be paid for more than a total of nine (9) hours per fiscal year." For clarification on this language, please contact the FA representatives.

These include: New Adjunct Faculty Orientation, participation in FLEX Day activities, or attendance at POD workshops approved by Salary and Leaves. (Note: Workshops attended prior to August 1, 2018, do not qualify for this incentive). A list of pre-approved district sponsored workshops is below. Use the online Adjunct Faculty Professional Growth Hourly Incentive Form link below to apply for this credit.
