Types of Aid

Various types of financial aid programs are available to help students pay for educational expenses at Mt. San Antonio College. Financial aid can be categorized into three types: free money, earned money, and borrowed money.

    • Free Money

      Financial aid with no repayment obligations or work commitments. This type of financial aid comes in the form of grants and scholarships.

    • Earned Money

      Financial aid which requires a work commitment from the student. This type of financial aid comes in the form of student employment through the Federal Work Study or CalWORKS program.

    • Borrowed Money

      Financial aid which requires a repayment obligation. This type of financial aid comes in the form of federal student loans.

The type of financial aid program that a student receives can come from different sources: federal aid programs, state aid programs, and Mt. SAC aid programs.
