In Memoriam:
Dr. William Feddersen
Retired Mt. SAC President William “Bill” Feddersen, who served the college from 1991 to 2002, died in March.
Dr. Feddersen spearheaded the construction of the college’s first new buildings in
25 years, the Student Services Center and the Performing Arts Center complex, and
the complete renovation of the Library building into a Learning Technology Center.
He is credited with passage of a $221-million bond measure in 2001, providing funding
for 17 major campus renovation and construction projects.
Many new programs and services were initiated under his leadership, including the college’s first Honors program and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Physician Assistant program, Paralegal program, and others.
After retiring in 2002, he and his wife moved to Sun City Palm Desert. Dr. Feddersen’s passions included reading, music, hiking, photography, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In 2009, the college named its Music Recital Hall in his honor.
He is survived by his wife Roberta, two sons, Troy (Denisa) of Lafayette, California, and Clint (Natasha) of Glendale, California, and his loving grandchildren.
