Women’s Sports Teams Dominate in 2024-25
We’re incredibly proud of how our women’s teams have performed this year—not only showcasing the best of Mt. SAC Athletics, but also setting the standard across the South Coast Conference and the state of California.
Across courts, fields, pools, and tracks, Mt. SAC women’s teams didn’t just show up during the 2024-25 – they took over.
From dominant basketball runs to powerful spikes on the sand, it was a year defined by precision, grit, and unapologetic excellence. In a season packed with headlines, the common thread was clear: women’s teams weren’t just part of the story – they were the main event.

Taking centerstage was the Women’s Basketball Team. The Mounties won their record ninth State title, beating Orange Coast College, 52-39, to secure the 3C2A Women’s Basketball championship. Daisia Mitchell led the way for Mt. SAC, scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to earn the tournament MVP award.
The Women’s Golf Team was another squad to score championship hardware, as it captured the 3C2A State title for the first time in 19 years, and for the first time ever, the Women’s Swim and Dive Team won the 3C2A State Championship.
The Women’s Track and Field Team captured the South Coast Conference (SCC) title, and the Women’s Swim and Dive Team clinched the SCC Championship.
The Women’s Soccer Team went undefeated in SCC play to clinch the division title, the Women’s Beach Volleyball team secured its second SCC championship in the first-ever evening match, and the Women’s Volleyball Team were the SCC North Co-Champions.
The Women’s Tennis Team had a strong showing in the 3C2A Regionals, including the doubles team of Julianna Vich and Paige Valenzuela winning their second consecutive State title.
The Softball Team won its 400th game under head coach Rubilena Rojas, who has been at the helm for 12 seasons.
The Women’s Wrestling Team finished second in the 3C2A State Championship, and the Women’s Cross Country Team raced to third at the 3C2A State Championship.
“We’re incredibly proud of how our women’s teams have performed this year—not only showcasing the best of Mt. SAC Athletics, but also setting the standard across the South Coast Conference and the state of California,” said Joe Jennum, dean of Kinesiology and Athletics. “This year’s achievements highlight our tradition of excellence and helps us continue to draw talented female student-athletes who will carry the torch for future generations. As always, it’s a great day to be a Mountie!”.
