Ode To You Award presented to the Purchasing Department

Ode To You Award presented to the Purchasing Department

July 08, 2026 - 11:06 AM

As we enter the third quarter of the calendar year, help us in congratulating the Purchasing Department for being the next "Ode to You!" award recipients. Rigo Estrada presented to Angelic Davis, Director of Purchasing, Printing, and Mail Services, and shared the following comments about the Purchasing team:

Throughout the year, the Purchasing Team has been an invaluable partner in supporting the work of Basic Needs Resources and the students we serve. Our program manages numerous contracts and purchases a wide range of essential direct services, including food supplies, food vouchers, transportation assistance, housing support, and other resources that help students overcome basic needs insecurities and persist in their education.

The Purchasing Team consistently approaches this work with professionalism, responsiveness, patience, and a genuine commitment to student success. Whether navigating complex purchasing processes, helping us meet critical deadlines, or finding solutions to unexpected challenges, they are always willing to partner with us and help move important work forward.

We would especially like to recognize Angelic, Joe, and Delaney for their outstanding support. They have been incredible partners, always taking the time to answer questions, provide guidance, and help us navigate processes that directly impact our ability to serve students in a timely manner.

While we have had the opportunity to work closely with these individuals, we know their dedication reflects the culture and commitment of the entire Purchasing Team. Their behind-the-scenes work often goes unnoticed, yet it is essential to ensuring students receive the resources and support they need.

We are grateful for their partnership and are honored to pass the Ode To You Award to the Purchasing Team.

About the award: The “Ode To You!” is a department-to-department award that will continue to be passed quarterly. This new award was inspired by the memory of retired classified employee, Odette Richardson, who was one of the founding members of the VOICES Committee.  During her tenure, Odette was very active with CSEA, Chapter 262, the Mt. SAC Staff Association, and many other campus initiatives. Odette’s advice was always to “get involved.”  She felt that by getting involved at work, you enrich not only your own work experience, but you enrich the experiences and provide benefits to the students, colleagues, and the community you serve.
