Campus-wide Town Hall meetings were held Nov. 29 to discuss the ongoing transition from a Public Safety Department to a campus police force.

For only the second time in the college’s history, both the men’s and women’s cross country teams have concurrently captured the California Community College State Championship. The last time this happened was in 1989.

Five Mt. SAC Honors students were invited to present research projects at the Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research (SCCUR) held Nov. 18 at Cal Poly Pomona.

Mt. SAC Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) student Luisa Patino recently won the California Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (CATESOL) statewide essay writing contest.

The Mt. SAC Student Life Office will host a Community Volunteer Fair for local organizations that would like to recruit student volunteers on Thursday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on campus just north of the library and west of the Student Life Center, building 9C.

Mt. SAC recently received just over $68,000 through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to establish a Hunger Free Campus program at the college.

Student Services Vice President Audrey Yamagata-Noji was the recipient of the Scott Goodnight Award from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) during the association’s western regional conference on Nov. 6 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Mt. SAC Forensics team got off to a hot start this fall, winning 26 awards including nine first-place awards in two October tournaments.

Mt. San Antonio College will celebrate its more than one million alumni with a full day of activities at the fifth annual Mt. SAC Alumni Day on Saturday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mt. San Antonio College journalism students won 17 awards recently at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges regional conference at Cal State Fullerton.
