Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week

Hello Mt. SAC Community, 

Our campus, through the leadership of the Basic Needs Committee & the Basic Needs Resources Program will be participating in a week-long series of events in support of the Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week Program.

 Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Participating groups spend the week holding a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events.

Please join us throughout the week of November 14-18, 2023. In addition to the week's schedule below, we invite you to take part in two extended activities.

November 6th - November 17th, Cooking Tool Drive!  Help stock the Mountie Fresh Food Pantry with cooking tools students said they need. Scan the QR code to the right for more information, the list of items we are collecting, and information about the collection locations. Help us reach our goal of collecting 500 total items to stock the pantry!

Monday, November 13th: Basic Needs Resources Center Open House

 

Wednesday, November 15th: What's Cooking at Mt. SAC (11am-1pm @ Kerr's Corner right in front of Mountie Cafe) Learn about CalFresh and watch cooking demos of easy and delicious recipes that use ingredients often found at the Mountie Fresh Food Pantry.

Friday, November 17th: Basic Needs Allyship Training (9am-12pm @,  Join us in an essential professional development opportunity. This training will provide insight on what students’ basic needs are, identify student cues related to basic needs insecurities, as well as explore best practices on how to support, guide, learn with, and from our basic needs insecure student population on campus.
