Mountie Fresh Basic Needs Resources
The Mt. SAC Mountie Fresh Basic Needs Resources is a comprehensive campus-wide effort that serves students experiencing housing instability, food insecurity, and other emergency/crisis situations.
The program goals are to provide students in need with:
- Food Resources
- Housing Referrals
- Case-Management Support
All of these areas play a critical role in a student’s academic success, health and wellbeing. This is a campus-wide prevention and early intervention program hosted by the Department of Student Life.
COVID-19 Mountie Fresh Basic Needs Resources Updates: Dear Mounties: During these trying times with regards to the effects of the COVID-19 we are working hard in trying to keep our website up to date with community resources that can provide some support. Our CalFresh Outreach support will continue (via phone) and our consultations with Mountie Fresh Basic Needs Resources Coordinator will continue as well (via phone). Please set up appointments using our Calendly scheduler located in the respective webpage. We are modifying our Mountie Fresh Food Pantry to follow campus directives and to keep our students and volunteers safe.
Apply for CalFresh benefits from the comfort of your own home: Our partners at "Get CalFresh.org" have created a Mt. SAC personalized link for students who wish to apply for CalFresh benefits on their own and at their own pace! This link allows you to complete a short 10 minute application to find out if you and your household are eligible! CalFresh Outreach staff from Mountie Fresh Basic Needs Resources are available to provide support at any point of the application process!

SAC's Psychology Department, in a collaborative effort, has created a comprehensive Resource Guide with Mt. SAC students in mind. Mobile Shower Access: During COVID-19, changes have occured to the mobile shower locations in Los Angeles County. Currently there are 18 mobile shower locations in LA County. Below is the information for two sites closest to our Mt. SAC campus. 1. The Shower of Hope: 750 S. Santa Anita Ave. , South El Monte 91733. Showers every Tuesday from 10am to 4pm. 2. The Shower of Hope: 3089 E. Huntington Dr., Irwindale 91706. Showers every Tuesday from 8:30am to 1:30pm). Additional mobile showers and handwashing locations in Los Angeles County can be found here. There are various types of resources available for students in need at Mt. SAC. Our staff can assist you seek the resources most beneficial to your current situation.
In March 2019, The Hope Center released is results from their largest annual assessment of basic needs security which indicated that 50% of respondents were food insecure in the prior 30 days and 19% of respondents were homeless in the previous year. Logo of the hope center.
