Incorporating Writing Center Into Your Classes

Writing Center Classroom Orientations
At the start of each new semester, we encourage faculty to set up classroom orientations of the Writing Center and its services for your classes. If you are teaching in-person, we can come to your classroom; if you are teaching online or asynchronously, we can join your class’s Zoom session or send you a video to post to your Canvas pages.
Orientations are short 15-20-minute presentations where a member of our staff will introduce students to our center and the services we offer. To request and schedule a Classroom Orientation, you can fill out the Smartsheet form here.

Borrow-a-Tutor Service
Are you looking for extra support during your synchronous class meetings or activities, specifically with writing-related tasks but don’t need a tutor every day, all semester? With “Borrow A Writing Tutor,” you can request a trained and knowledgeable writing tutor to assist you and your students in real-time, just on the days you need them.
Our writing tutors are equipped to support your students with writing-related challenges during in-person sessions. They can assist with brainstorming, organizing ideas, drafting, revising, and providing feedback on written work. Whether students need help with structuring essays, improving grammar, or developing arguments, our tutors are ready to support students at any stage of the writing process. Let us know what kind of writing support you need, and we’ll tailor our help to fit your classroom's goals!

In-class Workshop Requests
Our in-class workshops provide a convenient way to bring expert writing support directly into your classroom—whether in-person or virtually. We offer a range of workshops focused on essential writing skills, designed to help your students excel in academic writing. We can deliver any of our catalog of workshops or we can create something tailored to your needs. These are given via Zoom or in-person at your regular class time, or in the Writing Center (available starting Fall 2025).
Our workshops are interactive and engaging, providing both instruction and opportunities for students to ask questions and practice what they’ve learned. The workshops are ideal for reinforcing key writing concepts and offering your students the chance to build practical writing skills in a collaborative setting. Email Trista Payte at tpayte@mtsac.edu to schedule! Note: For custom workshops, please request at least 2 weeks in advance.
