Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP)

The STEP Program is designed for first time college students. This short program helps students prepare for success and make new friends at Mt. SAC. Students take a two-week Counseling 1 class and participate in three important workshops. Want more information about STEP? 

First-time college students who finish this program may qualify for the Promise+Plus Program, which provides priority registration for the Fall and Spring semesters, book grants, food cards, loaner laptop and more!

If this is your first time in college, you may qualify for FREE Promise+Plus Benefits, which includes a $250 book grant, $100 food card and loaner laptop! Just complete the STEP program this summer and fill out the Promise+Plus application!

Steps to Apply and Enroll in the Summer STEP Program

      • 1Apply for Summer at Mt. SAC

        Step 1: Apply for Mt. SAC for Summer Intersession

        • Admissions & Records will send you instructions on activating your account
      • 3Orientation

        Step 3: Take the Assessment Questionnaire (AQ) and New Student Orientation

        • Go to mtsac.edu/assessment/aq to fill out the assessment questionnaire; have your high school transcripts ready
        • The assessment center also gives hands-on assistance in building 9B on the first floor.
          Complete the online orientation by doing the following:
        • Log into your student portal
        • Click on the "Student Success" tab
        • Under "New Student Registration Checklist," click on "Step One"
        • Click on "Complete Mandatory Online Orientation"
      • 4Register for the STEP program to be announced March 2020
