Applications Open January 2020

The Mt. SAC Promise+Plus program is a combination of services to help first-time students access the life-changing benefits of a college education, whether to get career training, earn a degree or transfer credits to a university. 

Free Promise+Plus Benefits

for first-time college students 

    • FREE $250 Book Grant 


      • full-time students taking 12+ units receive a $250 book grant 
      • part-time students with 6-11.5 units get a $125 book grant
    • FREE $100 Food Card


      • $100 on-campus food card for full-time students taking 12+ units
      • $50 on-campus food card for part-time students with 6-11.5 units 
    • FREE Laptop Loan


      • Use a laptop throughout the semester at no additional cost
    • FREE from Mandatory Fees


      • Health services, bus pass and Associated Student activities fees will be covered
    • FREE Bus Pass 24/7 on Foothill Transit lines


      • Get a ride on Foothill Transit lines for free with our Class Pass program. 
      • Use any Foothill Transit line 24/7 
      • Pick up the Bus Pass at the start of each Fall and Spring at the Sac Book Rac
    • FREE Mountie Gear and School Supplies

      After completing the STEP program or Summer Bridge program, we'll stock you up with:

  • How to Qualify for Promise+Plus 

    • You must be a first-time, first-year college student  

    • Attend and complete the STEP Into College Program OR the Summer Bridge Program   

    • Enroll in 12+ units for full-time benefits (6-11.5 units for part-time benefits) during the Fall/Spring

    • Enroll in an English writing or Math class during Fall/Spring

    • Maintain a 2.0+ GPA each term

  • How to Sign Up for Promise+Plus

    After applying to attend Mt. SAC, students can sign up for the Promise+Plus program by filling out the Promise+Plus Application available through the Promise Office in the Student Services Building (9B). Students  must complete the qualification steps in order to receive Promise+Plus Benefits.


75% of students also qualify for the Promise Grant, which provides FREE enrollment into classes! You are automatically considered for the grant when you fill out the FAFSA/Dream Act application.
