My name is Scott Guth and I have been a professor in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Mt. SAC since 1990.


I am so excited that you have decided to take Elementary Statistics with Support or Calculus and Analytic Geometry II ! Your success is important to me, so to help prepare you for the next part of your educational journey, I would like to share some information with you about my courses and classroom environments.

      • Math 110 + Math 11 Fall 2023

        Online Class Search:
        ** This class will display a Building/Room number and a Meeting Time in the online class search, to indicate an in-person, on-campus class.


        Prerequisites: None


        Class Structure:
        This is a corequisite class, which means there is an extra 2 unit portion designed to give extra support in various aspects of the class. We will only be using Canvas for Math 110.
        My class will be conducted on-campus, in a traditional classroom setting. All exams will be in the form of on-Campus traditional exams.


        We will be using a zero-cost textbook for this class! Access to the textbook, MATH 110/110H: Elementary Statistics, by Guth, is required, and will be available in Canvas. Access to MyOpenMath (Free) is required. Free access to Desmos is also required. Homework assignments will be in the form of computer projects, worksheets, online homework, and take-home quizzes (not proctored / timed). Homework assignments will generally be due on Tuesdays and Sundays.


        Required Materials:

        Reliable Internet Connection (Strongly Recommended)

        Writing Utensils

        Paper (Printer or Lined)

        MyOpenMath (Free) Access

        Scientific Calculator

        Desktop/Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone (Strongly Recommended)

        Scanner or Free Scanning App (Strongly Recommended)

      • Math 181 Fall 2023

        Online Class Search:
        ** This class will display a Building/Room number and a Meeting Time in the online class search, to indicate an in-person, on-campus class.


        Prerequisites: Math 180


        Class Structure:
        My class will be conducted on-campus, in a traditional classroom setting. All exams will be in the form of on-Campus traditional exams.


        A physical or digital copy of the textbook , MATH 180/181: Calculus, Early Transcendentals, 8th Ed., by Stewart, is required. Free access to GeoGebra is also required. Homework assignments will be in the form of computer projects and textbook problems, and will generally be due on Mondays and Wednesdays.


        Required Materials:

        Reliable Internet Connection (Strongly Recommended)

        Paper (Printer or Lined)

        Scientific Calculator

        Scanner or Free Scanning App (Strongly Recommended)
