Thurs. Night Oct. 8 Football Game to Award Learfield Directors' Cup

October 01, 2026 - 08:22 AM
A rare Thursday night home game on October 8 at 6 p.m. for the Mt. SAC Football Team gives fans and students a mid-week opportunity to see the Mounties take on Santa Ana at the Hilmer Lodge stadium. Games are usually on Saturday nights.

The Mounties have just jumped to seventh in state rankings with a 4-1 season so far. Thursday’s game will be Learfield Directors' Cup Appreciation Night, with Mt. SAC accepting the prestigious award for the third time during halftime. Mt. SAC officials expected to attend the ceremony include President Dr. Martha Garcia and Board of Trustees Manuel Baca, Jay Chen, Gary Chow and Robert Hildalgo.
Mt. SAC has won the West Coast-based Ron Case Cup Presented by Daktronics every year it’s been given out since the 2012-13 season, but the Learfield Directors’ Cup is a national award given by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). It recognizes the colleges with the most success. Points for the NACDA Directors' Cup are based on order of finish in various championships.
Mt. SAC first won this honor for the 2014-15 season, and its second win was for the 2024-25 season. Last school year saw even more success from Mountie teams, giving them their third Learfield Directors’ Cup.
Home football games are free to Mt. SAC students with a valid Student ID. General admission is $10, with $7 discount tickets available for other students, seniors, military, and children.

As soon as the game ends (approximately 9 p.m.), fans are encouraged to go to the gym, where the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will be introduced ahead of their seasons during a Midnight Madness event.
“Go to the football game and then come right next door,” said Men’s Basketball Head Coach Michael Fenison. “Expect prizes, a slam dunk contest, maybe a three-point shooting contest. We’ll have a lot of fun.”
