Mt SAC Students Make Their Dreams Come True in Osaka, Japan!

During the winter intersession from January 20 through February 15, 2025, 28 students from Mt. SAC participated in a short-term study abroad program in Osaka, Japan. Hosted at Osaka Gakuin University, Mt. SAC’s partner institution, students enrolled in either JAPN53 (Conversational Japanese) or LING3 (Languages, Cultures, and Writing in East Asia), taught by Mt. SAC faculty.

Beyond the classroom, students engaged in enriching cultural activities, including an Osaka scavenger hunt, a visit to the Natural Disaster Prevention Center, and a day trip to Kyoto. They also explored the city with Japanese student buddies, practicing their language skills, exchanging cultures, and forging new friendships. Students took advantage of Osaka's proximity to and easy access to surrounding cities, visiting notable places such as Kyoto, Nara (home to Nara Park and its famous deer), Kobe (known for its Chinatown), and Himeji (home to the World Heritage site, Himeji Castle).

Through this immersive experience, students not only expanded their academic knowledge but also developed personally, gaining confidence, independence, and a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture.
