Spanish Professor Wins a Book Award!

Spanish Professor, Pablo Baler, Wins 2025 New American Fiction Prize
New American Press has announced that author Pablo Baler is the winner of the 2025 New American Fiction Prize for his upcoming novel, Gilroy’s Gloryhole. The book, which marks Baler’s debut novel in English, is scheduled for release in 2026.
About the Author
Originally from Buenos Aires and now based in Los Angeles, Pablo Baler is a distinguished writer, art critic, and scholar. A graduate of both Stanford and UC Berkeley, Baler serves as a Professor of Spanish at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC). He is well-known for his award-winning Spanish-language works, including:

Chabrancán (2020)
El lejano desoriente (2022)
Publication Details
The winning manuscript will be published in a 5.25" x 8.0" paperback format (ISBN: 9781941561447). While the exact launch date has yet to be announced, pre-orders will be available via Bookshop.org to support independent bookstores.
