World Languages Department Showcases Global Diversity Through Campus Outreach Events
The World Languages Department at Mt. San Antonio College celebrated global connection and cultural learning through two major outreach events this October.
On October 7, 2025, the department participated in Major Day, hosting an inviting booth that introduced students to its wide range of course offerings. Faculty shared information about the eight languages taught at Mt. SAC—Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish—as well as Linguistics. Visitors explored how studying another language opens pathways to travel, global careers, and intercultural understanding. Faculty members also highlighted flexible course options, transfer pathways, and the department’s vibrant cultural programming throughout the year.
Just two days later, on October 9, 2025, the department welcomed over 80 students to its World Languages Open House, a lively celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity. The event featured interactive mini-lessons in several languages, an information table on study abroad opportunities, and a showcase of faculty and student talents. Highlights included a faculty dance performance—Baile Folklórico—that brought the audience to their feet. Student ambassadors added to the excitement with K-pop performances and an engaging presentation comparing linguistic similarities between Arabic and Spanish.
Both events reflected the department’s mission to foster cross-cultural understanding and inclusiveness through language learning. “Every language opens a new way of seeing the world,” one faculty member noted, emphasizing how language study builds empathy and global awareness.
The World Languages Department looks forward to continuing its outreach and to inspiring more students to embark on the rewarding journey of learning new languages and exploring diverse cultures—right here at Mt. SAC.
