Michelle Obasi, Student Trustee

Michelle Uchenna Obasi is the Student Trustee for the 2025-2026 academic year. Michelle is a biomedical engineering major and plans to transfer to UC Irvine. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she plans to earn her master’s in business administration (MBA) and possibly a PhD. Michelle not only has a passion for science, but also for fashion and creativity. Her career goal is to be a biomedical engineer and an entrepreneur with her own clothing brand.
Michelle has a strong interest in student leadership, service, and advocacy. She served as the Associated Students Campus Community Senator during the 2024-2025 academic year, during which she helped influence decision-making with students’ interests in mind. She is the co-founder of BEST (Black Empowerment for STEM) club, as she is aware of the underrepresentation in STEM fields and aims to build community. Additionally, Michelle works as a chemistry tutor for the Academic Support & Achievement Center, and was a recipient of a Student of Distinction Award for her service.
Michelle is Nigerian-American; however, she was raised in the Czech Republic and lived there for 17 years. She currently lives in Eastvale. In her free time, she enjoys journaling, making bracelets and photo collages, volunteering at her local church, and spending time with family and friends.
As the Student Trustee, Michelle’s core values as a leader revolve around integrity, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to advocating for underrepresented voices and promoting diversity and inclusion. She is driven by a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the world and believes that by working together, we can create a more equitable and just society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
