The college's Big Data certificate is only 10.5 units (3 courses). It is designed to prepare students for in the areas of data science, data analysis, Big Data, and data mining. The field of Big Data is highly lucrative with projected job growth. According to U.S. Department of Labor data, the average salary of an entry level data scientist and mathematical science occupations is between $64,000 and $88,000 a year. SAC is 1/5 the cost of CSU schools, 1/10 the cost of UC schools, and 1/30 the cost of private universities. Classes are highly affordable at just $46 a unit.
