    Facilitator Bio:

André Bossieux was born and raised in Pasadena, California.  He attended the University of La Verne and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Television and Radio Communications.  While attending ULV for undergraduate studies, he participated on the basketball team, receiving “All Conference” Honors all four years.  He was inducted into the University of La Verne Athletic Hall of Fame in November 2011.  It was at La Verne that he met his wife Chavela of 41 years!  While attending La Verne, he got a part-time job working at a group home facility, “LeRoy’s Boys Home,” in 1979.  It was at LeRoy’s that his part-time job turned into a 26-year career working with youth in Foster Care.  After undergraduate studies, he continued the path of higher education, completing a Graduate Degree in Health Care Administration.  It was also at this time that he continued his activities in basketball coaching at ULV for the next 8 years as part of the men’s basketball staff.

After serving LeRoy’s for 26 years, he accepted the Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Program Manager II position with the County of San Bernardino.  In the 18 years working in San Bernardino, the nationally recognized Behavioral Health TAY Program continues to serve hundreds of TAY consumers in the county annually.  The TAY program continues to meet the needs of youth who are transitioning from the County Systems of Care, youth who are experiencing significant mental health challenges, homelessness, and substance abuse disorders.  The San Bernardino TAY program continues to be a model program both statewide and nationally, providing critical services to underserved youth in our communities.

His personal mantra is, “This is why we do what we do.” – André Bossieux
