Enroll in COUN 7: Planning for Transfer Success (section 23390) this fall 2026 to explore the transfer process and complete your applications!
COURSE DESCRIPTION This 3-unit course is designed for students to analyze and explore the university transfer process with particular emphasis on the systems of higher education in California (CSU, UC, and independent colleges and universities) as well as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and schools with designations such Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI), and Asian American and Native American, and Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI). Students will be able to analyze the transfer pathway through the application of theory and concepts relevant to the transfer student experience. Financial aid resources, scholarships, and transfer preparation and transition programs will be explored to assist students in making informed decisions related to transfer with particular emphasis on specialized student support programs and resources for historically underrepresented students such as, but not limited to, undocumented students, students with disabilities, foster youth, students with dependents and LGBTQ+ students. Off-campus tour required.
