2019 Mountie Faculty Focus Summit
April 5-6, 2019
Who can apply?
Any full-time or part-time faculty member may apply. Approximately 38 employees will be selected, emphasizing a diversity in gender, department, and years of service.
Why Faculty Focus?
The Mountie Faculty Focus (MFF) is a professional development opportunity providing faculty with a space to gather, share, and inspire each other. By concentrating our focus, we will fortify and unite our ideas about issues important in helping our students prepare for success as we develop realistic and usable solutions in these changing times.
What is the Focus of this year's Summit?
This inaugural event is sponsored by the Guided Pathways Initiative; outcomes to be addressed include:
- Clearly, accurately and succinctly explaining the Guided Pathways initiative to colleagues and students
- Connecting faculty to their role in achieving Guided Pathways objectives
- Engaging in dialogue and/or planning with other faculty colleagues about the Guided Pathways implementation
- Engaging in dialogue and/or planning with other faculty colleagues about the Guided Pathways pedagogy
The MFF facilitators will not disclose any details of the topics discussed, so faculty are encouraged to communicate openly and freely, without judgment.
What will the schedule be?
We will share lunch with the New Faculty Seminar at Founders Hall, beginning at noon on April 5th. After an introductory session, we will continue discussions during the bus ride to the Temecula Creek Inn, where we will check in, have dinner, and then participate in a work session from 7-10pm. Breakfast will be followed by more sessions (accompanied by more food!) from 9am-3pm, when the bus will transport us back to Mt. SAC. Participants will be expected to actively contribute to all sessions.
What are the accommodations?
