• • What is a Registered Dietician Nutritionist?
    A Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN or RD) is a food and nutrition expert who has met academic and professional requirements including: Earned a bachelor's degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Where do Registered Dieticians work?

  • Can I complete coursework here at Mt. SAC? 
    Yes. Students may complete undergraduate coursework including nutrition courses, some chemistry courses and other science courses here at Mt. SAC and then transfer to a university which offers Nutrition as a major. Please see your counselor regarding core requirements to be sure that you are the correct track.
  • I am interested in Nutrition, what course(s) should I take first?
    If you are interested in Nutrition, you should first take the course titled NF 25 - Introduction to Nutrition Science. This course transfers to most universities. After completing NF 25, you can enroll in NF 1 - Introduction to Nutrition as a Career. In NF 1 you will explore the field of Nutrition in more depth.

  • How can I get credit for a Mt. SAC course if I took a similar course at another college?
    Fill out a variance form that can be obtained from the Business Division Office and have it signed by the Department Chair and Division Dean.
  • What do I do if a course I need to complete my degree is not offered the semester I want to graduate?
    Students can meet with the Department Chair and ask if you can take another course in place of the one that is not offered.
  • How do I get a Mt. SAC certificate once I have completed the certificate requirements?
    Students must fill out the certificate application form that can be obtained from the Business Division Office and submit it to the Admissions and Records Office.
  • If a class is full and I want to add the class, what do I do?
    Students wishing to add a full class may list their name on the waitlist for the course, attend the first day of class and ask the instructor if they have room for you to add.
  • If I want to complain about a teacher, what do I do?
    Contact the Department Chair of that instructor and arrange a meeting.
