Adult High is Convenient Way to Finish Primary Education

Mt. SAC is doing whatever it takes to make sure everyone has a high school diploma or the equivalent. The college’s Adult High School Diploma and High School Equivalency (GED/HiSET) programs accept students year-round and they may start at any time.
All classes are free and there is no homework, with all coursework completed in class.
Orientations for new students take place every week and there are morning or evening options available year-round.
“Many of our students in these programs have barriers and we really do whatever we can to help them get their diploma or high school equivalency,“ said Lesley Johnson, Director for Adult Basic Education.
“We offer monthly bus passes to students as long as they are attending classes and meeting progress requirements, so transportation should not be a problem. If raising children is a barrier, the Mt. SAC Child Development Center has child care at reduced rates while they attend classes,” stated Johnson.
The first goal for all Californians’ career plans should be to finish their K-12 schooling
and to get their diploma or high school equivalency (GED/HiSET). Mt. SAC wants everyone
to achieve this goal, which opens a wealth of career and further advancement options
to graduates, including higher education, better jobs and more economic opportunities
in life.
“Many times, we are trying to overcome a bad experience they may have had, years ago, in high school,” explained Johnson. “But now they are in a different place in life, and if we can get them to have a little bit of success in education, they begin to build their confidence. We have a lot of students transition to college and vocational training out of these programs.”
Classes are offered Monday through Friday (Monday-Thursday in the summer). You can schedule your start date by calling (909) 274-4937.
