New Police Vehicles Rolled Out

Motivated to increase visibility and deter crime, Mt. SAC’s sworn police officers
will now be monitoring campus in three new black-and-white vehicles like those commonly
used by outside police agencies.
“We want our campus community to be able to distinguish between sworn police officers
and non-sworn personnel responding to calls,” said Police and Campus Safety Chief
Kelli Florman. “It’s important for people to know that Mt. SAC has sworn officers—not
just campus security—on duty to ensure their safety.”
“There is no need for students, faculty or staff to be alarmed if they see this type
of vehicle,” she added. “It simply means that one of our sworn officers is nearby.”
Non-sworn officers will continue to use the white vehicles the campus is used to seeing,
Florman said.
