Mt. SAC has added three new transfer degrees to its already robust lineup of 22 transfer degrees. Transfer degrees offer automatic admission to a CSU campus and receive priority admission consideration. Students with an Associate of Arts for Transfer (AA-T) or Associate of Science for Transfer (AS-T) complete no more than 60 units after they transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree.
As an ever growing number of Mt. SAC graduates are getting transfer degrees each year, so Mt. SAC administration has been looking to add more options.
“A transfer degree is the quickest and most cost-effective way of getting a bachelor’s
degree,” said Dr. Joumana McGowan, Associate Vice President of Instruction.” A student
with one is guaranteed admission to some of the best universities in California.”
The addition of transfer degrees has led Mt. SAC to be named, for the second year in a row, a Champion of Higher Education for 2020. This, for work in implementing the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) by The Campaign for College Opportunity, a non-profit that advocates for all Californians to have access to a higher education.
The college is scheduled to accept the award Thursday, November 19th via a virtual celebration featuring California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and Assembly member Marc Berman.
“It takes an incredible amount of hard work and collaboration to develop these Associate Degree for Transfer programs,” said President and CEO, Dr. William Scroggins. “I am incredibly proud of the Mt. SAC faculty and staff who have made this a priority to ensure that students who want to transfer are fully supported to achieve their goals. We are making it as easy and cost-effective as possible for students to earn a bachelor’s degree.”
