Convenient Certificate Programs
Students can get career training and earn certificates as a way to distinguish themselves from other job applicants. With some programs, they can later progress to an associate’s degree. We offer two types of certificates.
- Certificates of Achievement – These certificates are frequently a requirement for professional advancement. Certificates of Achievement are approved by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. Employers generally look favorably on them, and they appear on your transcript.
- Skills Certificates – These certificates provide job preparation. They are usually fewer units than certificates of achievement. In some cases, Skills Certificates are provided in a series, allowing students build upon their certificates. The courses in Skills Certificates sometimes also build into Certificates of Achievement or Associate Degrees. You’ll want to speak with the Financial Aid office to determine if your skills certificate classes qualify for financial aid.
Professional Development
Aside from Mt. SAC’s academic programs that provide college credit, our School of Continuing Education also offers a wide array of stimulating non-credit and fee-based classes that are flexible and convenient.
