Scholarship Opportunities
Here are some scholarship opportunities for horticulture students. You can't get free money if you don't apply!!! Applying is easier than you might think!
Mt. SAC Ag Department Scholarships
These scholarships were part of the general campus scholarship application, but the deadline has been extended to April 28 due to a low number of applicants! Please apply today!

Horticulture Scholarships from Outside Organizations
These are scholarships from organizations outside of Mt. SAC, but they are specifically for horticulture students. These scholarships are open to Mt. SAC students as well as students from other colleges. Apply for all that you might be eligible for!
- Southern California Garden Club Scholarship - $1000 (Postmarked by March 28, 2025)
- California Landscape Contract Association's LEAF Scholarships (Due April 15, 2025)
- Pesticide Applicators Professional Association Scholarship (PAPA) $3,000 (Due April 30, 2025)
- American Floral Endowment - various scholarships for floral and horticulture students (Due May 1, 2025)
- California Pest Control Advisors (CAPCA) Stanley W. Strew Scholarship - $3,000 (Postmarked by May 2, 2025)
Mt. SAC General Scholarships
These scholarship opportunities are for all Mt. SAC students, and may not be specific to horticulture. New opportunities are posted regularly.
- Mt. SAC Scholarships - Most Mt. SAC Scholarships are available in Spring, but others come up throughout the year. It is worth checking!
Conference Scholarship
These scholarships pay for students to attend a conference, rather than providing funding for college.
- Perennial Plant Association National Symposium Scholarship (Applications due March 31, 2025) - The Perennial Plant Foundation will provide $1000 plus full registration and housing for the duration of the Perennial Plant Association's National Symposium in Des Moines, Iowa from July 28 - 31, 2025.
- Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA) 2025 Annual Conference and Trade Show (Application deadline extended to March 24) - WCISA will provide $1500 toward travel, registration, and accommodations for the conference. The conference is titled "Branching Out: Innovations in Arboriculture for a Sustainable Future," and will be held in Tucson, AZ from 22-25, 2025. Recipients should also expect to volunteer at the conference.
