Hi, all! I am Melinda Bowen, and I would like your vote for the Academic Senate Executive At-Large Board Position. I am currently serving on the Senate Executive Board as a Director were I have served for three and a half years. Prior to that I served my department as a Senator on the full Academic Senate. I would really love an opportunity to continue on the Executive Board as a Senator at Large.

The Academic Senate is responsible for the 10+1, having been legislated that responsibility in AB 1725. I have had direct experience will all of the areas for which it is responsible as my experience on campus is diverse, and that makes me the best candidate for this position. I am the Faculty Coordinator of the Pride Center, and I have served on various hiring committees and college-wide committees including Campus Equity and Diversity Committee, President’s Advisory Council, and the Developmental Education Committee. Additionally, I have worked on curriculum in my discipline, and I served on an Accreditation Writing Team.

Much of my current work in helping the campus community, because of my role as the Faculty Coordinator of the Pride Center, is working with many stakeholders on campus. I work very closely with student services, financial aid, instruction, counseling, health services and most of the equity programs. I have shared these insights and perspectives to the Executive Board and think they offer a unique voice to the make-up of the board.
