Tammy Basile

Tammy Basile, M.S., R.D., CSSD


Tammy Basile has been an adjunct instructor at Mt. San Antonio College for over 13 years, teaching online, hybrid and traditional classes in the Nutrition Department. She was one of the first adjuncts in the department to teach online classes and has served as a mentor for several NF online teachers. Tammy maintains effective online teaching skills by attending distance learning conferences every year. Tammy has taught Food Safety, Introduction to Nutrition Science, and Sports Nutrition classes here at Mt. SAC.
 

In addition to her teaching at Mt. SAC, Tammy also teaches at Mira Costa College. She has worked at St. Mary Medical Center, CARE Medical Clinic for 21 years, as their only Registered Dietitian, counseling 1500 patients. She also runs the on-site food pantry. She is the recipient of the Acts of Human Kindness Steward Award at St. Mary Medical Center.

Tammy has served the field of dietetics by serving as a Dietetic Preceptor and faculty mentor for students in nutrition-related cooperative work experience classes. In addition, she counseled public safety personnel, fire fighters, and police officers in performance nutrition for 10 years with the Santa Ana College Fire Technology Department.

Tammy graduated from California State University Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Food Administration, and got her Master of Science in Nutrition from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

An avid sportswoman, Tammy has run the Boston Marathon five times  and participated in numerous mountain biking races, including the 24 hours of adrenaline world championship and California State Championship series, where she was ranked 2nd in the state. She also volunteers with two pet therapy organizations, Pet Partners and HOPE Animal Assisted Crises team.


Erika Bowers


Adjunct Faculty, Accounting Program

Erika Bowers


Erika was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Southern California after marrying her husband in 2008. Erika loves spending time with family and friends, shopping, fashion, and dancing the night away. Growing up, Erika spent most of her holidays and summer breaks in Louisiana where she picked up what her friends call a little Southern Charm.
 
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy from The John B. Olin School of Business, Washington University and an MBA from Webster University. She has over 15 years of corporate experience and has managed multiple clients with over $1.5 billion dollars in annual spending.
 
After completing her corporate career, Erika entered into education. Coming from a long line of educators, with her mother teaching for 38 years, Erika found a new voice and passion that she never knew she had. She is very passionate about pouring into her students, and often tells them, "I want you to know as much as I do, and more."

 


Charles Freeman

Dr. Charles Freeman, Ed.D., MBA


Over 20 years of industrial experience, leading teams in Supply Chain, Logistics, and Manufacturing. In addition, Dr. Freeman started his career in the U.S. Air Force, during the first Gulf War, also focused on business as a Journeyman Accountant.

Currently Dr. Freeman teaches at Mt. San Antonio College (3 years) as well as other schools, runs a Medical Insurance Billing company with his wife Claire, and is a Trainer/ Consultant/ Executive Coach with LOQ Consulting, LLC. 

Dr. Freeman leverages the tools of Lean Manufacturing to improve processes, communication, and relationships both in the classroom and in industrial environments. Continuous improvement is the common theme he uses to improve learning outcomes, increase the use of experiential and dynamic teaching, and to integrate humor; ultimately to keep the classroom setting engaging.
