Associated Students Senate

Officers

The Senate consists of 16 Senators two (2) of which serve as Senate Chairs. Each Senate seat has an assigned job description in addition to a core of general responsibilities. Each Senator will remain in office for two semesters.

Responsibilities of the Senate

  • Serving as a voice and advocate for student issues
  • Enacting legislation which impacts student concerns
  • The allocation of revenue entrusted to the Associated Students
  • The monitoring of A.S. funded accounts,
  • Sponsoring events and programs designed to enrich and entertain a diverse student population

General Requirements  

  • Must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00pm-4:30pm
  • Must be available Thursdays 4:30pm - 5:30pm (for those serving on Activities Committee)
  • Have completed one (1) semester at Mt. SAC and 6 graded units with a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must be enrolled in at least 5 units and maintain a 2.0 semester GPA
  • Pay the Student Activities Fee of $15.00 each semester
  • Attend 4 A.S. meetings prior to the interview process
  • Have no discipline record on file with the college
  • Complete a Senate application
