Jun (Edward) Zhang

Hello, my name is Edward and I am running for Associated Students Vice president. I am a computer science major, with the dreams of becoming a software engineer at Google.

This past semester, I had the honor and pleasure to serve as the Associated Students president support where I assisted the president in their daily tasks. Through this position, I have learned the duties of being a president and the responsibilities that come with it.

There is a great disjoint between Associated Students and the rest of the student body. My goal is to close the distance and connect the bridge between Associated Students and the student population. If elected, I plan on creating events that help promote Associated Students and advertise on campus. I also plan on partnering up with other clubs and organizations on campus to host events and welcome students into a warm, positive environment. I want to help students realize that Mt. Sac is more than just a place where people attend class and leave, but rather a place where they can build long-lasting friendships and take advantage of programs and opportunities that are offered which would help elevate their experience at Mt. Sac.

As a current officer for Phi Theta Kappa, I have experience planning and running events, collaborating with others, and leading meetings. This position has allowed me to gain the skills and confidence required to lead others in the executive board. One of the events that I have led for Phi Theta Kappa is the Squid Game event where my team and I helped bring awareness and explored the idea between equity and equality to students on campus by playing a variety of games from the popular television show, Squid Game.

As Associated Students vice president, I will help create enjoyable events for students to enjoy and allow them to connect with others on campus as well as creating long lasting memories for students to look back to.
