Juan Antonio Mendoza

My name is Juan Mendoza. I am blind or visually impaired; I wear hearing aids, and have type 1 diabetes. My major is Social Justice Studies. As you know, I am your student Trustee for the term of 2021-2022. I enjoy working alongside professors, staff, and students. I am running for student Trustee for another term. My goal for this next term as your student Trustee is to collaborate and work, and bring more students’ voices to the table. If we do not have students’ voices; then we do not have a united community. Even though, you are in the minority or majority; your voice matters. I know that I have a disability, but I can do things differently. So no matter if you have a disability, rich or poor, black, brown, white, or other skin color; man or woman, or other gender; anything is possible to be accomplish. I am also Hispanic, but I am not only running for some students; I am running for all students. I will make sure that I will listen and advocate for all students’ concern. I am interested in working alongside faculty, staff, and students to bring equality and equity to services. I know that equality and equity do not means the same. I am committed to find ways and to provide the same access, and to remove barriers that we see in technology, education, employees, and food. Lastly, I would leave you with a quote of an awesome and inspiring woman name Helen Keller who is blind and deaf. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” Helen Keller.
