John Uy
Title: Senate Chair

Hello everyone! My name is John Uy and I am running to be one of your Associated Students Senate Chairs for the 22-23 academic year! Some background information about me first, I am a first-year Aerospace Engineering major here at Mt. San Antonio College, I hope to transfer and pursue graduate research to eventually complete a PhD in Systems Engineering. I have recently graduated from high school in May 2021, but despite me being relatively new to Mt. SAC I believe that it is my responsibility to take up the initiative of this Senate Chair position and ensure that Associated Students is able to best serve all Mt. SAC students for this upcoming academic year. My involvement with the campus includes being the current Associated Students STEM Senator and the student representative for the Information Technology Advisory Committee which oversees all technology related equipment and programs on campus. As the STEM Senator, I work with and faculty of the Natural Sciences Division to ensure that fellow students have clear communication on issues and changes that pertain to all STEM related activities on campus. With these experiences within the Mt. SAC community, I believe my strengths include an approachable demeanor, a disciplined work ethic, mindfulness, problem assessment and solving. It is these qualities that I believe I can excel as both a leader and individual in the Senate Chair position. Simply put, my vision for both Associated Students and all students of Mt. SAC provides not only the legislation that supports the interests of the students but also strives to put the effort necessary to get these changes and solutions enacted as efficiently as possible for both the students and the campus. The times are changing and we must change with them to promote both growth and a Mt.SAC we can all admire. My vision of a brighter, more inclusive Mt. SAC can only be achieved if you are willing to vote for me as your Senate Chair. With that being said, I hope to make both Mt. SAC students and Associated Students proud in this upcoming academic year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at juy11@student.mtsac.edu
