Services & Benefits

The Rising Scholars Program provides educational assistance to Mt. SAC students who have been negatively affected by the U.S. judicial system. The program utilizes an asset-based methodology to assists students' development through education. Our services and benefits help students to achieve their educational and career goals.

        • Students must attend a minimum of 2 workshops per semester (one being related to career exploration and the other is based on student interest

          • Financial Literacy workshop
          • Writing a resume and cover letter workshop
          • Interview prep workshop
          • Mock interviews
          • Organizational skills/ time management
          • Learning to ask for what you need - communication & assertiveness
      • Counseling
        • Individual One-On-One Counseling
        • Requires Appointment With Counselor
        • Students can meet with a counselor for academic, personal, and/ or career development advising
      • Tutoring
        • Free writing tutoring
      • Computers
        • Available For Use During Office Hours
        • Accessing Mt. SAC Portal
        • Homework
        • Research
        • Working on resumes/ cover letters/ job applications
        • Finding jobs/ researching employers
      • Career Information
        • Students can register for Career Exploration Seminars offered during Fall/ Spring
        • Student employment referrals to the Mt. SAC Student Services Employment and Education Development (SSEED) Program
      • Cultural Activities
        • Enrichment outings to create social solidarity and cohesion, foster social inclusion, community empowerment, enhance confidence, civic pride, and tolerance.

        • Only first year and Scholars on academic probation will be assigned a peer mentor

        • Students can print/ fax employment-related material such as resumes, cover letters, and/or job applications
