Services & Benefits

The Rising Scholars Program provides educational assistance to Mt. SAC students who have been negatively affected by the U.S. judicial system. The program utilizes an asset-based methodology to assists students' development through education. Our services and benefits help students to achieve their educational and career goals.

    - Requires Appointment With Counselor
    - Students can meet with a counselor for academic, personal, and/ or career development advising
  - Tutoring
    - Free writing tutoring

    - Available For Use During Office Hours

    - Working on resumes/ cover letters/ job applications
    - Finding jobs/ researching employers
  - Career Information
    - Students can register for Career Exploration Seminars offered during Fall/ Spring
    - Student employment referrals to the Mt. SAC Student Services Employment and Education Development (SSEED) Program
  - Cultural Activities
    - Enrichment outings to create social solidarity and cohesion, foster social inclusion, community empowerment, enhance confidence, civic pride, and tolerance.

  - Peer Mentoring
    - Only first year and Scholars on academic probation will be assigned a peer mentor
  - Coping/Fax/Email
    - Students can print/ fax employment-related material such as resumes, cover letters, and/or job applications
    - Case related documents copied, emailed , and/or faces
