The New Mountie Money Management Center Opens

financial jisaw puzzleWith research showing that financial security is one of the greatest factors in student success, Mt. SAC has opened the Mountie Money Management Center to provide students with resources and support for managing their money and planning for their financial futures.  

 

 

Lisa AmosThe MMMC is an 18-year dream come true for me,” said Lisa Amos, Faculty coordinator of the Center and professor of Family and Consumer Studies.

 

The Mountie Money Management Center meets several goals and objectives of the Title V Grant toward moving the equity needle on programs to support our students:

  • Goal 5: Enhance students’ cultural awareness, personal development, and leadership skills.
  • Goal 6: Increase students’ financial literacy, including awareness of financial aid options, financial planning, and debt management.

Features of the Center include:

  • a Virtual Front Desk for immediate questions.
  • Workshops and webinars for all students.
  • Targeted workshops and webinars upon request for classes, programs, and clubs.
  • Faculty may contact the MMMCat at mmmc@mtsac.edu or lamos1@mtsac.edu if interested in scheduling a workshop for students/classes.
  • Schedule appointments for more in depth money conversations with Lisa Amos at mmmc@mtsac.edu or lamos1@mtsac.edu.
  • Mt. SAC employees have monthly targeted workshops available through the Money Talks Webinar series through POD, but are also welcome to attend student workshops.

  • Regarding the workshops,Amos said, ”We will kick things off the first day of classes, with our first workshop for students. Week 1 of our semester is America Saves Week. There will be a workshop each day that week. “
