Wellness Fair to Keep Students Healthy

October 21, 2019 - 09:53 AM
Student Health Services' will be hosting their annual Wellness Fair this Tuesday, Oct. 22 in front of the 9C-Stage from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The event is designed to provide students with access to necessary health screenings
and resources for free. Free screenings will include HIV testing, blood pressure, BMI screenings, and more.
“The theme this year is ‘Good to go from head to toe’, said Marti Whitford, Director of Student Health Services. “This means that we are covering everything from body health, like fitness and nutrition, to mental health, with an emphasis on teaching students mindfulness.”
The fair will have yoga and 10-minute meditation sessions. “In order for a student to manage stress, they should occasionally slow down, breathe correctly, and look inward,” said Whitford.
On-campus resources and community health partners will be present for students to
ask questions and learn about helpful wellness resources. Several prizes will be raffled
throughout the event and the first 200 to attend will receive a free cup of Yogurtland.
Participation is free and open to all students. Students can register through Eventbrite to receive a free lunch.
