Tutoring Fair this Wed. to Showcase Help for Students

September 16, 2019 - 11:40 AM
All Mt. SAC students are being encouraged to attend The Tutoring and Student Success
Fair this Wednesday, September 18th, from 11-2pm at the Kerrs Lawn between the Library
and the Mountie Cafe.
The fair introduces students to a host of tutoring and academic support centers across campus, as well as other resources available to them, such as financial
aid. Even a student who currently is being tutored can benefit greatly from developing
a deeper understanding of vital student resources they have access to.
“Sooner or later, almost every student will need help in a class, and that’s why we have so many tutoring programs on campus,” said Liza Becker, Associate Dean of Continuing Education. “There are many ways to be tutored in our tutoring centers - one on one, group study, as well as embedded tutoring support. One of them should be able to get every student the help they need to succeed.”
The school has numerous tutoring programs, including online, help for students in
athletics, as well as weekend and evening tutoring.
“For students who have already developed an area of expertise, we are always looking for students to become tutors as well,” explained Becker. “Students can get a convenient, on-campus job as a tutor, which will help their own studies while helping other students taking the same classes. This way, we can cover subjects across the hundreds of programs that Mt. SAC offers.”
The Fair will be a fun event, with free food, prizes, and music meant to showcase and highlight the resources to help students succeed in their coursework.
