Students receive their certificates for vocational training

Students with their certificatesThe end of the Fall semester saw a closing ceremony for Mt. SAC’s newly certified students who completed one of the 55 vocational certificate programs that are offered tuition-free at the college.

Board of Trustees President Laura Santos and Member Gary Chow handed the students their certificates at the Short Term Vocational Completion Ceremony .

 

Families take photosThe event saw these students and their families celebrating the end of training for a program used to make a career change or take the next step in their current careers.

“There is a high demand for the jobs we are training for in these programs.” said Tami Pearson, the Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.

Students pose for picturesThe School of Continuing Education’s 55 programs offer a wide variety of tuition-free, noncredit courses to prepare for a career or to upgrade skills.

Pearson said, “We could not be more proud of these continuing education students. These are intensive programs we offer and the students are sacrificing a lot to better themselves.”

“Most of our students work full time jobs and have families they are providing for,” said Pearson.
