Student walks past fencing

December 11, 2019 - 01:26 PM

Rendering of new student centerAs Mt. SAC makes progress on the new Student Center and future Bookstore, the construction project will expand west of the current work zone where 16B, 16C, and the Row Buildings 17, 18, 19B, 19C, and 20 previously stood. This fence line will change as the phases of construction begin, so look for future updates.

Rendering of new student centerAdditional construction fences will be installed beginning on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, and remain until the Student Center opens in the Fall of 2022. Campus community members are advised to give themselves additional time to travel around these construction areas. Signage will be placed along the fence for directional wayfinding. See the Online Campus Map for details.

Rendering of new student centerThe 100,000-square-foot Student Center will replace the existing facility built in 1953. The new building will have three floors and have ample space for students to study, hang out and eat. It will also have areas for student clubs and government, and flexible meeting and event spaces for up to 900 people. The facility is made possible by public support of Measure GO, which provides Mt. SAC with $750 million to support the college’s mission with facilities that help students prepare for transfer and enter the modern workforce.
