Library Welcome Week Displays Vast Resources Available

September 13, 2019 - 01:16 PM
All next week, the Mt. SAC Library will be holding one of its largest events of the semester, Library Welcome Week, a Student Equity activity. Fun events occur each day, but the real purpose is to attract students into the library and show off all the resources available to help them succeed.
“Library research is not a skill everyone has out of high school and college-level research is demanding and can be overwhelming for students,” explained Student Equity & Outreach Librarian Eva Rios-Alvarado.
Students can make their lives easier by learning how to use the library to its fullest. They can take part in Library Welcome Week by joining activities at the Library (building 6, North) from 10:30 am - 2:00 pm Monday (Sept. 16) through Thursday (Sept. 19). In addition to instructional information on the libraries resources and tours, there will be food and fun activities each day, including:

“We want students to know that the library is their space,” said Rios-Alvarado. “The library is a place of
self-refection, exploration, and collaboration. It is a creativity center, as well as being a place to increase their information literacy skills while in college and beyond.”
